Sheremetyevo has no metro station, so ground transport comes down to four real options: the Aeroexpress train, an express bus to the nearest metro, a regular city bus, and a night bus for arrivals after the metro closes. Here is how they compare in August 2026, with fares that hold up against the official ticket systems rather than outdated aggregators.
The four ways in
1. Aeroexpress train — the predictable one
Runs from the airport to Belorussky railway station (metro Belorusskaya, ring and green lines) in about 50 minutes, immune to traffic. A standard ticket costs 700 ₽ bought on the day, or 650 ₽ if you buy online at least a day ahead — the advance ticket stays valid for 90 days, so you can buy it as soon as you know your flight. Children under 7 ride free. This is the right choice with luggage, in rush hour, or when you have a train to catch.
2. Express bus 1195 — the fast cheap one
Leaves from the terminals to Khovrino metro (green line) along the M11 toll motorway: around 20-25 minutes when the road is clear, for 450 ₽ . From Khovrino it's roughly 25 more minutes on the metro to the centre. Usually the best price-to-time ratio in daytime — but it shares the M11 exit with airport car traffic, so at peak hours it can lose its advantage.
3. City bus 817 — the budget one
An ordinary Mosgortrans route between the airport and Planernaya metro (purple line), stopping at Terminal B and looping past the southern terminals. It costs a regular city fare (under 100 ₽, payable with a bank card or a Troika card at the validator) and takes anywhere from 40 minutes to well over an hour on the Leningradskoe highway. Fine without luggage and outside rush hour; painful otherwise.
