День огурца в Суздале 2026: билеты, даты и как добраться из Москвы

Update September 7, 2026. Cucumber Day 2026 took place on August 1 and 2. The next one will be in summer 2027: dates are announced in spring, and ticket sales open then. The prices and schedules below refer to 2026 and are suitable as a guide.

The Cucumber Day in Suzdal takes place on August 1 and 2, 2026. If you're reading this at the end of July, there's almost no time to think: tickets are booked in advance, and accommodations in Suzdal for these weekends are snapped up first.

How much is the entrance fee?

Билет
DiscountПолный
One day1000 ₽1500 ₽
Два дня2000 ₽2500 ₽

A two-day ticket is more cost-effective than one and a half single-day tickets, so if you're staying overnight, get it right away. The discounted rate requires a document confirming your eligibility; check which categories are included this year on the official festival page.

Where does it take place?

The festival takes place at the Museum of Wooden Architecture—an open-air site on the bank of the Kamenka River, opposite the Suzdal Kremlin. It's a 15-minute walk from the city center.

What this means in practice: there's grass and dirt paths underfoot, and there's hardly any roof overhead. In the rain, it gets muddy, and in the heat, there's nowhere to hide from the sun. Wear closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting dirty, and bring a hat and water.

To get from Moscow

There is no direct train to Suzdal—the city has no railway. The route is always the same: first to Vladimir, then by bus.

The "Lastochka" is the most convenient option. It runs from Kursky Railway Station to Vladimir in about 1 hour 40 minutes. Tickets for morning flights on festival weekends are sold out in advance, so check the schedule and buy them immediately.

Regular long-distance trains—those heading to Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, and further east—also stop in Vladimir. The journey takes longer, but there are many departures, and tickets often remain available when the "Lastochka" (high-speed trains) are sold out.

The electric train is the cheapest and the slowest option: around three hours, possibly with a transfer in Petushki. It's suitable if you count every ruble and don't count the hours.

From Vladimir to Suzdal

Next is a bus from Vladimir bus station, which is located next to the railway station—no need to transfer. The journey takes about an hour, covering a distance of approximately 35 kilometers.

Buses run regularly, but during festival weekends they are often crowded, especially morning buses heading to Suzdal and evening buses returning. If you're traveling in a group, a taxi from Vladimir to Suzdal for four people is often comparable in price to bus tickets and saves an hour of waiting.

The return journey is the bottleneck of the entire trip. On the evening of August 2, the entire festival will depart from Suzdal at once. Stock up before the return train: missing the "Lastochka" because of a bus queue is the most disappointing thing of all.

What to consider before your trip

Book accommodation before tickets. Suzdal is a small town with limited lodging options, and it fills up quickly for the August holiday weekend with its festival. If nothing is available in Suzdal itself, check Vladimir: it's an hour away by bus, but there's more choice and prices are more reasonable.

Cash. At the fair, private vendors do not accept cards everywhere. A small amount of cash comes in handy.

With kids. The fair-like format is fun for children, but strollers struggle on the museum's uneven ground—carriers or backpacks are more practical.

Is it worth going from Moscow for two days?

A one-day trip from Moscow is possible but turns out to be long: four to five hours of travel one way with a transfer, and the same amount of time back on the same day. By evening, all that will remain from the celebration is fatigue, not impressions.

An overnight trip changes everything: you have time for both the festival and to explore Suzdal itself—and it's worth seeing even without the cucumbers. The two-day ticket is designed for this scenario and costs less than two separate days.

For a Muscovite, it's a quick trip: an early start, four hours there, four back, and the whole holiday on the run. With an overnight stay, it's a regular weekend: leave in the morning, stroll through empty Suzdal in the evening without bus crowds, and return to the festival refreshed the next day.

The dates and prices above are for August 1-2, 2026. Check the program and list of eligible categories on the official festival page before departure: schedules for city festivals can change up to the last days.
